1. There is a hole in the arse of my red tartan pyjamas. My old comfy favourite red tartan pyjamas, which have seen me through nearly 14 years of sleeping (with support from all the other pairs of pyjamas, and with a 2 year break when I was too fat for them). Time to get another pair of long sleeved pyjamas.

2. Canadian wheat flour is great for making bread.

3. Shakti Bhog atta is the best atta for chapatis, IMO.

4. Copyediting middle school math is dull dull dull dull dull dull dull.

5. The transfer window has been a bit rubbish.

I'm not fretting, just marking the passing of an exceptionally long serving pair of jammies.

My partner changes into his "comfies" the instant he gets in. When I worked in an office with business suit dress code I used to always change into non-work clothes soon as I got home. I can cope with staying in business casual all day, and of course now I work at home, where I can wear a sleeping bag if I like (I did this the other day when it was well cold and I didn't want to put the heating on - it was so blissfully comfy)

It's been a great day for getting holes in the seat of your pants.

1. I'm sorry. It's hard to lose old friends.

2. Oh, really? I've been interested in starting the bread-making thing.

3. Totally foreign language to me.

4. Oh, wow, I can imagine.

5. Huh?

3. Atta is Indian chapati flour. Shakti Bhog is a good brand. It makes a very workable dough and lovely soft tasty chapatis.

5. Transfer window equals soccer draft, sort of. Clubs can buy, sell and loan during the off season and during January.

Ooh yes I got some Canadian wholemeal flour from flourbin and it's just RIDICULOUS - even the 100% wholemeal bread rises and becomes fluffy, rather then being ahem just a little bit dense. I must get another order in soon, they do all kinds of flour (also I am inspired by [livejournal.com profile] julietk and [livejournal.com profile] nou, who are experimenting with all kinds of barley flour, leavens, sourdoughs etc - it's that Dan Lepard's fault. I need to get his book!)

Could you not mend/patch yr pyjamas? It's always a shame when an otherwise-serviceable garment gets a hole in it, especially if it's your FAVOURITE garment!

I had never seen wholemeal dough rise like that before.

What book is this?

It is The Handmade Loaf - I think he does or did a wee column somewhere in the back of the Graun magazine, too. I'm so tempted to get it, now i've seen it's CHEAPO on Amazon...

Goodness me, I remember those pyjamas well. I'm amazed that they lasted that long.

In related news, you might be glad to know that my horrible dressing gown has finally been replaced after a similar period of service. I now have a sensible navy blue one, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] katstevens.
