Okay. I need to start posting more, even if it is, like a kitten with the runs, all fluff 'n' shite.
Socks. Let's talk about socks.
I'm a contented wearer of those sub-ankle length trainer liner type socks, especially if they have a little tab at the heel to stop the trainer from eating the sock. I prefer them to have a looped terry towelling style interior, which provides padding to the foot, and seems to wick sweat away from the foot pretty well.
Recently I bought two pairs of the cutest wool socks. They're knee length, like little girl socks. One pair is burgundy red, and the other pair is silver grey. They keep my calves lovely and warm in this here cold weather.
Even better than those are my made in Finland grey wool stockings. I need to get an everyday suspender belt (garter belt) to wear them with. Thick stockings need sturdier clasps than the ones you get on evening/bedroom wear lingerie suspender belts. A plain black cotton one with 6 metal clasps would be just the ticket.

Date: 2004-01-27 10:48 am (UTC)No really, I do. I have a serious neurosis when it comes to what I'll put on my feet. Socks are only to be worn with shoes, and the second the shoes come off, so do the socks, and I don't care how cold my feet get. Jaime suffers the same fate. If he's in the same room as me, the socks have to go. I don't want to see them, I don't want to feel them, i don't want to hear them rub against the carpt (*shudder*), I don't want anything to do with them.
See? I'm insane.

Date: 2004-01-27 11:25 am (UTC)I love 'em. Can never have too many.... Okay probably can, but with so many different kinds to choose from it's nice to have a good selection.
Some of my favourite socks are: Eeyore socks, rainbow toe socks (though I don't wear them often cos it feels funny), and rag wool socks. Having lived in Wyoming for 5 years I quickly collected warm fuzzy socks.
When it's absolutely freezing, there is nowt better than dressing in a sweatshirt, sweatpants and thick fuzzy socks cuddling up in bed with the dog on your toes, a cuppa tea (or cocoa) and a really good book.
But the fuzzy socks are a must. :O)

SOCKS!!
Date: 2004-01-27 12:14 pm (UTC)i've never quite gotten the hang of "proper" stockings but i should do - i love the idea of thick woolly stockings! preferably in bright colours which if you were a Victorian would mark you out as a kerrayzee loose woman!

Date: 2004-01-27 01:22 pm (UTC)Although in the house I always switch to the colourful-but-odd wool slipper-socks that I crocheted for myself.

Date: 2004-01-27 02:17 pm (UTC)1-socks for tennis shoes: theses are crew socks that you scrunch down. they are all varying shades of white.
2-socks for boots: long school girl socks. I have all sorts of neutral shades.
3-socks for around the house: these are mostly thermal socks that have the rubber patterny stuff on the bottom so as not to slip on tile floors. I have baby blue, burgundy and used to have black somewhere. also toe socks fall in this category. i have a "rainbow brite" pair but in shades of blues, purples and pinks.

As a person who maketh not her own body heat, I like taller socks that keep my ankles warm. I'm ridiculously fond of The World's Softest Sock, (http://www.onehanesplace.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce/ExecMacro/product/product.d2w/report?style=731&catname=4081000000&V=A) which is just acrylic but it really IS super soft.
socks!

Date: 2004-01-27 02:59 pm (UTC)I always like being able to wear just nice warm wooly white socks. Even in the summer, I like my nice medium weight white socks. Jazz concerts in college, I would always wear a dary grey suit and white socks. Wish I could better get away with them at work.

Date: 2004-01-27 04:45 pm (UTC)You name it, I've got it, if it's wacky. My biggest regret is that while I was at Universal, I was forced to wear plain old boring black socks. I've been rooting them out of my wardrobe slowly but surely.
