Oh how I wish I were in the habit of writing down recipes.

I can't remember what goes in the marinade for pork onna stick that I made t'other week.

Honey, soy sauce and star anise (I was looking in the window).

No, it wasn't that style of pork onna stick (although soy sauce, honey and star anise will be a good move for next time).

There was chipotle tabasco, lemon juice, molasses and... what else?

I can't remember if I put chopped garlic in it or not. There was probably some black pepper.

If you didn't put garlic in last time, I'm pretty sure you should this time. Garlicgarlicgarlic. Garlic!

I often find that I can recreate things by going into the kitchen and going through the motions of preparing them. Sometimes your body remembers even if your mind doesn't.

Oh man, I do that all the time...find some inspirational snippit on the web or cobble something together from a few different books and my own head, and it turns out AWESOME, and I always say, "I should write that down so I can do it again next time."

And I NEVER do.

Why does that thought of "If I were the sort of person who wrote things down, I'd be totally writing this down" never beef up to "HEY! Let's GET A PEN and WRITE THIS SUCKA DOWN"?

Thing is, when I do write stuff like this down, it's invariably on a random piece of paper that then gets lost amongst all the other random pieces of paper that litter my life.

Well, yeah, but then you have to find PAPER too, and....

oooh, shiny

Get one of those drywipe boards in the kitchen, the kind mums write shopping lists on, and then scrawl down nice tasting things. Or silly notes to your beloved.
