Mika Häkkinen and Kimi Räikkonen are both going to be taking part in the Arctic Rally of Lapland, a snow rally (as the name suggests) in Finland which takes place in a fortnight's time.

Kimi's codriver will be the experienced Kaj Lindström, former codriver to Tommi Mäkinen. The car will be a Fiat Abarth Punto S2000.

oh, I didn't know! Why hasn't dad called me yet?
That's interesting news...

I'm really excited about Kimi doing some rallying, ever since he said in an interview last year that he wanted to try it, and maybe move into rallying once he was finished with F1. I thought at the time that it would be ideal to start with a few snow/ice events and then get to grips with the gravel. It's brilliant that he's got such an experienced codriver as Kaj Lindström to help him make good notes. I reckon he should have fun with it.

I'm sure he'll be a HUGE help! The codrivers are so important anyhow and in this situation, coming from F1 and all that, it's even more important, I'd think. I'll be looking for more news with excitement!
(also YAY for something else to concentrate on!)

Good stuff! Any idea if it's likely to be on a tv station in this country that you don't already have to have sky to watch?

Nope, it won't be: this is pretty much a Finnish national event not much interest outside Finland, and only any mention in the news becuse of Kimi's participation.

And besides, it clashes with the Monte Carlo rally, which is on Eurosport.

I thought of you yesterday. I was reviewing someone's benefit claim & found their son was called Finn Mika (whatever the surname).
