I tip my hat to the two Dans for creative use of the monologue intro to "Dead Flag Blues" (album track by bleak post-rock wankists* Godspeed You Black Emperor) on the 14th Sep podcast.
GYBE: The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
and the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
and a dark wind blows
DANNY BAKER: (hushed) If you've just joined us, we're live with Daniel Levy adressing the Tottenham board.
GYBE: the government is corrupt
and we're on so many drugs
with the radio on and the curtains drawn
DANNY BAKER: So far no questions from the floor...
GYBE: we're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
and the machine is bleeding to death
DANNY BAKER: Mr Levy not taking the upbeat view so far...
GYBE: the sun has fallen down
and the billboards are all leering
and the flags are all dead at the top of their poles
DANNY BAKER: Seems to be saying that Berbatov will be at the club for the foreseeable future.
*I like GYBE.
